I felt nirvana earlier

while I was separating kale

leaves from stems.

That movement, like most,

is a kind of meditation.

because I can’t sit still.) I gave

my offerings, a recipe and song:

chickpea soup with stewed tomatoes;

a croony baritone rendition

of Love Hurts, by Nazareth.
