Out at ASU: Resource Archive
Please note that My Galvanized Friend has no affiliation with Arizona State University.

Given threats from the current administration to withhold federal funding from Universities that don't divest themselves from DIE programs, Arizona State University has quietly removed or buried several resources and information relevant to LGBTQ+ students and faculty. Supporting and empowering LGBTQ+ art in all its forms requires uplifting and encouraging LGBTQ+ students in all fields, but especially in the arts and humanities. This page is dedicated to recovering, documenting, and sharing information previously provided by ASU.
Please note that because ASU is no longer updating information on some of these topics, resources may be out of date. Also note that some of the embedded links direct you to the internet archive and some are still live. Some of the documents embedded below have already been removed from ASU websites, while others have been archived here in anticipation of future action.
What we do:
Recognizing the enormity of the challenges the LGBTQ+ Community faces, My Galvanized Friend is dedicated to making a lasting impact through a variety of programs.
Quarterly Literary Magazine
MGF publishes a quarterly literary magazine featuring queer fiction, essays, poetry, and art.
Book Club
MGF seeks to partner with the Friends of Dorothy Book Club and the Tempe Public Library. We seek to expand access to this queer-centric club by enabling audio, video and virtual participation.
Author Events
MGF seeks to work with bookstores, independent queer authors, and publication houses to sponsor author readings, signings, and Q&A sessions in person and virtually.
Community Events
MGF organizes and enables community meetings, workshops, art demonstrations, book swaps, and other events centered around queer art and queer literature.
Provide Access
MGF seeks to expand access to queer literature by collecting and disseminating queer works to book clubs, classrooms, student clubs, and households of under-priviledged youth.
LGBTQ+ Advocacy
MGF seeks to advocate against efforts to limit access to queer literature through book bans and censorship.
